Edith Thelma Tischer

Edith T. Tischer, age 84 of LeSueur, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 21 at Grace Lutheran Church in LeSueur. Rev. David Shilling will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 20 at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur, and also one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be in the Woodland Hills Cemetery in Mankato. Edith was born on August 8, 1927 to Emil and Laurina (Redemske) Stursa in Amana Colonies, Iowa. She attended schools in the area and later went on to business school in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married Walter Tischer on Nov. 7, 1954 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Mankato, MN. The couple lived in Good Thunder for four years before moving to the LeSueur area in 1959, then into town in 1961. She did clerical work for most of her life for many companies, most recent were REA in Mankato, Green Giant in LeSueur, Benco Electric in Mankato and finally LeSueur Public Utilities before retiring. Edith and Walter also delivered the Mankato Free Press and Minneapolis Star Tribune papers for many years. Edith enjoyed knitting, crocheting, hook latch, reading, collecting dolls and Texaco memorabilia. She is survived by her husband Walter; Sons,Norman Tischer of Faribault, Marcus Tischer of LeSueur and Orville (Echo) Tischer of LeSueur; Grandchildren,Orville Tischer Jr. (fiancee' Samantha Jensen), Nathan Tischer (fiancee' Ashley Wells) and Eli Yeoman Sister,Rosetta (Erwin) Tischer of Good Thunder; Sister-in-Law,Elna (Darrel) Bohlke; Brother-in-Law,LaVerne (Emily) Tischer; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents.
