Eileen Bode, age 85 formerly of Arlington, passed away peacefully Friday morning, December 23, 2022 at Kingsway Retirement Community in Belle Plaine. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington with a visitation to precede the funeral service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Private interment will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery. There will be a luncheon served at Peace Lutheran Church following the return of family from cemetery.
Eileen Ann Ische was born on June 2, 1937 in Hamburg, Minnesota, the daughter of Arnold and Viola (Mueller) Ische. On June 9, 1937 she was baptized, on April 8, 1951 she was confirmed and on June 3, 1956 she married Dale B. Bode all at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. Eileen grew up in Hamburg and attended Emanuel Lutheran School through 8 th grade and Central High School in Norwood Young America through graduation. In the early years the family enjoyed camping and fishing together, while later in life their lake home in Akeley was a wonderful retreat and family gathering place. Eileen enjoyed flowers and flower gardening. She loved to sew and knit. She was an excellent cook, baker and homemaker and especially liked spending time with family. Eileen and Dale were lifelong residents of Arlington before moving to Kingsway Retirement Living in Belle Plaine in August 2021. Eileen and Dale were founding members of Peace Lutheran Church.
Eileen is survived by her husband; Dale B. Bode, children; Mike (Paula) Bode of Marietta, GA, Mitch (Robin) Bode of Royal Oak, MI and Lisa (Bob) Born of Kennesaw, GA, grandchildren; Nick (Meghan) Bode of Marietta, GA, Megan (Aaron) Bode-Anderson of Louisville, KY, Ben (Erin) Bode of Royal Oak, MI, Lauren (Landon) Hubbard of San Diego, CA, Adam Born of Atlanta, GA and Lizzy Born of Athens, GA, great grandchildren; Olivia, Baer and Tyler, sisters; Janet Noennig of Glencoe and Lois Willemsen of Waconia. Eileen is preceded in death by her parents; Arnold on 6/3/1996 and Viola on 12/25/2007.
