Elaine "Dolly" M. Plonske

Elaine "Dolly" Plonske, age 90 of Belle Plaine, died on June 17, 2011 at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Fr. Michael Kaluza and Fr. Roger Hessian will officiate the Mass. Visitation will be 3:00-7:00 pm on Sunday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Dolly was born on August 9, 1920 in New Prague, MN to Edward and Eva (Barnett) Walker. She graduated from New Prague High School. On August 25, 1945 she married Isidore Plonske at St. Thomas Catholic Church in St. Thomas. They farmed south of Belle Plaine for 62 years. She attended and graduated from Mankato State College in 1974. She substitute taught in Belle Plaine and the surrounding areas for many years. She taught religion and was very active in the church for many years. She was a lifelong resident of rural Belle Plaine and in September 2008 she moved to Kingsway. Dolly had a deep appreciation of education, was an avid reader, enjoyed socializing with friends, gardening and flower arranging. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Isidore, and brother in infancy, Eddie. She is survived by her children, Mary Jean McCleary of Geneva, IL, Edward Plonske of Minnetonka, MN, John (Jane Rivers) Plonske of Plymouth, WI, Irene (Don) Tremblay of Tonka Bay, MN; Grandchildren, Katherine (B.J. Griswold) McCleary, Elizabeth (John) Aune, Mark Tremblay and Michelle Tremblay, Shawn Remme; Great Granddaughters, Meredith and Lauren Aune and Laine and Molly Griswold; Sister Mary Lou Regis of Stillwater, MN; Brother James "Jim" Walker of New Prague, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
