Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Heiland Vos, of Green Isle and Arlington, Mother of 10 children, grandmother of 23 and great grandmother of 30, passed onto eternal life in Christ on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Oak Terrace Senior Retirement Community in Gaylord, MN at the age of 90. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, 11:00 a.m, St. Brendan's Catholic Church, Green Isle, MN. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday morning, 9:00 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Lunch will follow the burial at the Green Isle Community School Gymnasium. Betty was born February 3, 1927 to Martin and Catherine (Kryana) Heiland of Shakopee, MN. She was one of seven siblings. She married Austin Vos of Cologne on November 6, 1944. Austin died October 1987. She was a devoted wife and homemaker, gave great inspiration to all of her family and touched the lives of many others during her volunteer years. Betty was a member of St. Brendan's C.C.W. and taught religion at church. She was a member of the Good Samaritan Auxiliary and Green Isle Charter School volunteer. Her hobbies included, quilting, baking, canning, gardening, card making , playing cards and doing volunteer work. She loved her family dearly. She enjoyed sharing her lake home cabin in Annandale and celebrating holidays. She enjoyed polka dancing. She loved, encouraged and prayed for her family and friends. Betty is survived by children; Charles (Johari) Vos of Seattle, WA; Sharon (late Larry) Hartung of Chaska, MN; Daniel (Rosemary) Vos of Waconia, MN; Catherine (Michael) Smith of Eden Prairie, MN; Michael (Susan) Vos of Green isle, MN; James (Lynn) Vos of Green Isle, MN; David (Christine) Vos of Waconia, MN; Mary (Larry) Rewerts of Litchfield, MN; Patricia (Duane) Geib of Arlington, MN and Paul (Chris) Vos of Henderson, MN. Brothers-in-law; Fr. Tom Vos OFM of Indian River, MI and Nicholas (Tony) Vos of Gaylord, MN; Sisters- in- Law; Rose (Ray) Peitz of Chanhassen, MN and Geraldine Heiland of Shakopee, MN. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers. Many thanks to the Oak Terrace staff, Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center and Ridgeview Hospice for their loving care to Betty and her family.
