Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Manke

Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Manke, age 92, of Le Sueur passed away at Comfort Residence in Le Sueur on Monday, November 20, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Gaylord, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Betty and her twin sister, Louise, were born March 14, 1925 in Kelso Township, Sibley County to Rose (Thelemann) and Julius Manke. Betty graduated from Gaylord High School and the Franklin Hospital of Practical Nursing. She practiced her nursing profession until her retirement in 1989. She was on the staff of Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis for more than 30 years. She also was on the staff of the hospitals in Glencoe, Austin, Mankato and St. Peter. Betty and her twin sister, Louise, traveled extensively, visiting all the states in the United States as well as Germany, Norway and the Holy Land. Betty is survived by her twin sister, Louise. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Melvin and Arthur. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church. Special thanks to the staff at Comfort Residence for their loving care.
