Elizabeth "Betty" Thomas

Elizabeth J. "Betty" Thomas, 90 of Henderson, died February 17, 2017, at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home, Belle Plaine. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Feburary 21, from 4:00 p.m. ~ 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Henderson, Minnesota. The funeral service will begin at 6:30 pm. A meal will be provided at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Center following the service. Burial, February 22, 2017, 10:00 am, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Henderson, MN. Betty was born on February 12, 1927 in Mankato to Matthew and Rose (Tarpy) Baynes. She grew up in the LeSueur area and attended St. Anne's School, graduating from LeSueur High School in 1945. On June 25, 1949, she married Elzie Thomas at St. Anne's Church in LeSueur. They resided in the Jessenland Township area of Henderson. Betty worked at Narr's Produce, Sibley County Bank and at the Red Owl Store in Henderson. In later years she accomplished her Big Adventure which was moving to Alaska where she worked various jobs. Upon returning to Henderson she opened a bed and breakfast naming it The Irish Inn in honor of her Irish heritage which she was very proud of. She is survived by her children; Steff Thomas of Selah, WA, Greg "Curly" (Joyce) Thomas of Henderson, Doug (Dee) Thomas of Henderson, Tim (Kathy) Thomas of Starbuck, MN, Jeff (Roberta) Thomas of Cannon Falls, MN, Patrice (Allan Noll) Thomas of Henderson. 20 Grandchildren, 21 Great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Jean) Baynes of Springfield, MN, and brother-in-law, Les Trimbo of Henderson. She was preceded in death by her son, Scott; great grandsons, Elzie and Caleb Thomas, husband, Elzie and siblings, Harry, Bob, Lee and Tom Baynes and Rosemary Trimbo.
