Ellen Lucille Sweeney

Ellen Lucille Sweeney, age 93 of Le Sueur, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the MVHC Nursing Home in Le Sueur. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 14 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Le Sueur. Fr. George Grafsky will officate. Vistitation will be one hour prior to Mass at church. Interment will be in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Ellen was born on October 1, 1919 to Raymond and Lucille (Murphy) Callahan in Twin Lakes, MN. She grew up in the Twin Lakes area. She married Paul Sweeney in New Richland at the All Saints Catholic Church on June 27, 1945. She moved to Michigan for a few years to live with Paul's sister while he served in the war. In 1972 they bought a farm in St. Thomas. She enjoyed quilting and flowers. Ellen is survived by her husband, Paul and son-in-law, Bill (Kay) Brown of St. Thomas. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Judy Brown in 2004; siblings, Veronica Chicos, Isadora Lee, Ambrose Callahan, Nicholas Callahan, Walter Callahan and Margaret Gordon.
