Ellsworth "Al" Meier

Ellsworth "Al" Meier, age 91 of Arlington, died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Golden Hearts Assisted Living Center in Arlington. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Saturday at the church. Interment will be in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Arlington. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Meier was born on January 13, 1921 in Arlington to Frederick G. and Lydia (Stoefen) Meier. He lived for a number of years in St. James and later moved to Bloomington. He married Marian Martin in 1963 and the couple lived in Bloomington until her passing in 1997. In that same year Al moved back to Arlington and resided at Amberfield Senior Housing. In January 2010, Al moved to Golden Hearts Assisted Living Center. He loved watching sports on TV, liked playing cards and listening to music. Al is survived by a brother; Donald (Gail) Meier of Edina, nieces and nephews; Cory Meier, Vicky Cole, Tom Meier, Beth Dahl, David Nieland and Carol Willmsen. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Marian, sister; Marion Nieland, and nephew; Richard Nieland. Casket bearers for the funeral are; Cory Meier, Tom Meier, David Nieland, Neil Willmsen, Paul Willmsen, and Scott Willmsen.
