Emmet T. Dressen, age 94 of Arlington, died Wednesday, June 08, 2011, at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center, in Arlington MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington, with interment in Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Hancock Township in Carver County. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. prior to service time Saturday at the church. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Emmet was born on January 13, 1917, in Tyler, MN to Anton ‘Anthony' and Inez (Wenzin) Dressen. After his high school graduation, Emmet traveled to New York, later moving to California to work at Douglas Aircraft, where he met his future wife. Emmet was united in Holy Matrimony to Dorthy E. Miller on January 19, 1943, in Santa Monica CA. He and his wife moved from California to Belle Plaine MN where they farmed from 1946 to 1980. They spent 10 years of their retirement in Northport, Florida before returning to Belle Plaine MN. He most recently resided in the Arlington Good Samaritan Center in Arlington. Emmet is survived by his son Kenneth (Sandra) Dressen of Arlington, daughter Eileen (Delvin) Dittmer of Glencoe, daughter-in-law Cynthia Dressen of Belle Plaine, 11 grandchildren Mark Dressen (Carol Copley), Keith Dressen, Lisa (James) Hill, Krista (Kevin) Schauer, Amy Dittmer, Angela Schauer (Cory Oltmann), Lesley (Jonathan) Kochel, Benjamin Dressen (Stefanie Hennen), James Dressen, Timothy Dressen and Katherine Dressen, nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Emmet is also survived by his siblings, Norrine Jenkins of Buffalo, Kathleen Christopherson of Stockton CA, Gene (Sylvia) Dressen of Redwood Falls, Tony (Colleen) Dressen of Shakopee, Alvin Dressen of Buffalo MN, sister-in-law Rita Dressen of Burnsville MN and brother-in-law Bob Trimbo of Vancouver, WA. Emmet is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of almost 66 years, Dorthy, infant son John Emmet, adult son Paul Patrick, siblings Josephine Jenkins, James Vincent Dressen, Francis Dressen, Inez Mae Trimbo, Mary Dolores Dressen, Marguerite Halterman, and Betty Dressen. Casket bearers will be Emmet's grandchildren.
