Ethel Thornburg

Ethel Thornburg, age 92 of Le Sueur, died at the Ridgeview Medical Center on Sunday, September 6, 2020.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home on Friday, September 11, 2020.  Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.  Mask and distancing will be required. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur, MN.

Ethel was born on August 20, 1928 to Gust & Helen (Porthenis) Cachules in Marion, Indiana.  She grew up in Marion, Indiana and graduated from Marion High School.  She worked for an office paper product company for 4 years before joining the United States Navy.  She met and later married Jack Thornburg in the Spring of 1953 in Jacksonville, FL.  After completing her military service she and her husband returned to Marion, Indiana where she began her family and worked for a nursing home in Marion.  She later divorced Jack Thornburg.  Ethel came to Minnesota for a vacation in 1979 and moved up here to be near her sister.  She worked at the Le Sueur Nursing Home for many years and retired in 1993.  Ethel enjoyed reading, fill in the word puzzles and visits with friends and family.

Ethel is survived by her Children; Jack Thornburg and his friend (Sharon) of Ft. Pierce, FL and Mike Thornburg of California.  Brother, George Cachules of Marion, Indiana and special friend Lois Steinborn of Henderson, MN.  She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Elaine in 1961 and sister Lillian Gilson in 2020.
