Ethlyn A. Laux, age 87 of Le Sueur died Thursday evening, February 23, 2017 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017, St. Anne's Church in Le Sueur, MN. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur beginning with a 3:45 p.m. C.C.W. Rosary and ending at 8:00 p.m. with a parish prayer vigil. Visitation will continue the morning of the Mass at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. ~ 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Le Sueur, MN. Lunch to follow at St. Anne's School. Fr. Andrew Steuve and Fr. George Grafsky will con-celebrate the mass. Memorials are preferred to the LeSueur Food Shelf,, St. Anne's School or the donor's choice. She was born on March 26, 1929 in Hortonville, Wisconsin to Joseph and Marcella (Falk) Guyette. Ethlyn grew up on a farm near Hortonville, Wisconsin. She graduated from Hortonville High School and studied to be a teacher at Outagamie Rural Normal School. She taught at a country school in Leeman, Wisconsin before she married Kenneth A. Laux in Hortonville, Wisconsin, July 29, 1950. They moved to Le Sueur in 1953. Ethlyn was the mother of seven, a homemaker and worked various jobs through the years. She was a member of St. Anne's Church and served as a St. Anne's CCD Religious Education Director for 20 years. Her interests, hobbies and passions were many. She was an avid reader. She loved music and played piano, recorder, and autoharp. She repaired antique dolls and religious statues. She braided and sewed several rag rugs. She sewed 100's of quilts for charity and countless costumes for school choir concerts. She was an artist who painted several original and sought-after works of art. She decorated pumpkins and donated them, as well as her artworks, to the St. Anne's Applefest fundraisers. She was a John Wayne, Star Trek and EWTN fan. She regularly prayed the rosary. She was an uncompromising supporter of the rights of the unborn. She quietly helped many people in need whom God put in her life. She is survived by: Children: Joe and Vicky (Boisen) Laux of Blaine, MN John and Bonnie (Johnson) Laux of Le Sueur, MN Jim Laux and Bill Phillips of Minneapolis, MN Michael and Juan Ignacio (Gomez) Laux of Oakland, CA Mark Laux and Allen Bates of Inver Grove Heights, MN Mary and Steve Truran of South Saint Paul, MN Anne Laux and David Hoit of West Saint Paul Eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Sister; JoAnn (Larry) Russell of Hilbert, WI Sisters-in-law: Arnita Winders of Kansas City, Missouri and Eva Laux of Clintonville, Wisconsin Honorary Family: Dee Anna Pfarr and Greg Novak Many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents, Joseph and Marcella; sister, Bette L. Rehmer, and brother-in-law, Wayne Rehmer; and brother, Roland L. Guyette. Special thanks to the staff at Oak Terrace for the great care Ethlyn received there.
