Eugene "Pete" Brandt

Eugene "Pete" R. Brandt, age 79 of Belle Plaine, died at the Leisure Cottage in Le Sueur on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Church in Le Sueur. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be on Thursday, at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Fr. George Grafsky will officiate the Mass. Pete was born on April 13, 1933 to George & Lucy (Schmid) Brandt in St. Peter, MN. He grew up in the Le Sueur area and graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1951. He later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning home he attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He worked as a Carpenter most of his career. He married Maureen Spence and she died March 31, 1995. He later married Virginia "Ginny" (Guertin) Nelson on Feb. 10, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Ginny of Belle Plaine, MN; Daughters,Deb Swearingen, Sue Sweringer, Carol Foss & Mary King; 6 Step-Children, 13 grandchildren, many Great-Grand Children and Step-Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Maureen; siblings, Helen Grassinger, Arleen Brandt & Marvin Brandt.
