Eugene O'Brien Iii

Eugene Thomas O’Brien, age 58 of Hopkins, passed away on May 6, 2021 after battling cancer.  Graveside service will be at 10:30a.m. on Thursday, May 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine.  The family will gather at the Kolden Funeral Home at 9:30am prior to the procession to the cemetery.

Eugene was born in New Prague on April 11, 1963 to Dr. Eugene “E.T” and Mary (Baker) O’Brien.  He grew up in Belle Plaine.  Gene attended Belle Plaine High School and graduated from the University of St. Thomas.  He worked for Abbott Laboratories for many years.  Eugene enjoyed attending sporting events and collecting sports memorabilia.

He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his brother, Dr. Patrick (Katharine) O’Brien of Bloomington, nephew, Connor O’Brien and niece, Eleanor O’Brien.
