Eugene "Jake" Schwarz

Eugene "Jake" E. Schwarz, age 82 of LeSueur died on October 17, 2017 in Glendale, Arizona. He was born on August 17, 1935 in Sharon Township to Clarence and Edna (Sohm) Schwarz. Jake was baptized and confirmed at United Methodist Church in Le Sueur. Jake attended District 77 Sharon Township Country School, LeCenter Public School and graduated from LeSueur High School in 1953. He farmed for a short time and then entered the U. S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958. He married Charlotte Schaffler on August 29, 1959 at the United Methodist Church in LeSueur. He worked for Monroe Calculators in Mankato and in Illinois, Winco in LeCenter and Entegris in Chaska in Quality Control. He always had a love for farming, after retirement he worked for Sunderman farms in the spring and fall. Jake enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and being a 4 H Leader. .Jake was an active member of the Le Sueur county fair board, Le Sueur Saddle Club and retired last year from the Le Sueur Police Reserve, where he served for 51 years. Jake was a loving father to his children and grandchildren, he had an unbelievable knack for making friends where ever he went. He loved his beautiful wife and best friend of 58 years, he called her his social secretary, a saint and said he could not live without her. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte. Children, Mike (Jane) Schwarz of Colorado Springs, Beth (Tim) Anderson of Winthrop, Brenda (Fiance' Dan Turck) Jarve of Sauk Rapids, Melissa (Cory) Rickheim of Apple Valley. 12 Grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Josslyn, Justin, Meghan, Marissa, Ashley, Christopher, Dustin, Blake, Alexandra, Jackson & Avery. 5 Great-grandchildren, McKenna, Owen, Bentley, Wyatt & Harrison. A sister Lorraine (Roger) Just of Henderson and brothers Neil (Cletis) Schwarz of Glendale, AZ and Elden (Frances) Schwarz of LeSueur. Also surviving are brothers and sisters in law, Mary And Tom Burns of Florida, Ron and Barb Schaffler of LeSueur, Robert and Donna Schaffler of Mankato as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be on Friday, October 27, 2017, 11:00 a.m, St. Anne's Church, Le Sueur, MN. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 26, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home, Le Sueur, MN. Visitation will continue on Friday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Follow service at church, burial with military honors will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Le Sueur, MN followed by lunch at St. Anne's School.
