Evelyn Holste

Evelyn Holste, age 97 of Arden Hills and formerly of Belle Plaine, passed away on September 29, 2015 at the Johanna Shores Nursing Home in Arden Hills. Funeral Service will be at 11a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. Sarah Timian will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Friday morning. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Evelyn was born in Belle Plaine on September 10, 1918 to Fredrick and Violet (Payne) Brenke. She grew up in Belle Plaine and married Gilbert Holste on September 9, 1937 at St. John Lutheran. They worked as caretakers for large estates on Lake Minnetonka until 1954. Gilbert later became disabled and Evy became his caregiver for almost 50 years. In 1967 they moved to Birch Lake in Hackensack where they lived and Evy worked for over 35 years. They then lived in Waconia for 8 years before moving to assisted living and nursing facilities. She is preceded in death by her parents, 7 siblings and her husband. She is survived by her son, Darrell (Ethel Mae) Holste of Plymouth, Daughter, Donna (John) Wilson of Minnetonka, Grandchildren, Robert (Nancy Wilson, Don (Ann) Wilson, Todd (Ann) Holste, Deanna Holste, 5 Great Grandchildren, Sister In Law, Mary Lou Brenke of Albert Lea, Many Nieces and Nephews The family of Evelyn would prefer memorials to St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine or the American Cancer Society.
