Rev. Evon Bachaus

July 22, 1941 — May 28, 2021

Rev. Evon Emma Bachaus, 79, passed away May 28, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee.  Funeral service will be at 11a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Rev. Katie Slack will officiate.  Interment will follow service in Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur.

She was born July 22, 1941, in St. Peter, Minnesota, the first of eight children of Alvin and Ruth (Boelter) Bachaus, and grew up on the family farm near Rush River. She worked hard on the farm, both in the fields and being "mother hen" to her seven younger siblings. She was blessed with a gifted and inquisitive mind.  She learned to read maps at age 7, and was the navigator on family trips, which usually involved taking "the road less traveled."  This ended up with some very interesting and exciting road trips. She graduated from LeSueur High School as salutatorian in 1959, and went on to graduate from Arizona State University with a degree in chemistry.  She worked in the food industry for several years developing dietetic products. She then became an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church, and was pastor of the Burns, Wyoming, Presbyterian Church for several years.  Later on, when health problems limited her activities, she became a caregiver for older adults.  She retired at the Boessling apartments in Belle Plaine until her hospitalization.

Evon had many interests which she pursued with a passion--books, women's rights, family genealogy, and was a member of Mensa.  Evon was very spiritual, and the book she treasured most was the Bible.  She is now at home with her Heavenly Father.

Evon was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Gary Bachaus and David Bachaus, brother-in-law Richard Monson, and nephews Zachary Hergott and Christopher Bachaus.  She is survived by sisters Bonita Casteel, Carrie (Dale) Hokanson, Diane (Lawrence) Hergott, Renette Monson, Idelle (Kevin) Slack, sister-in-law Donna Bachaus, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Auf wiedersehen, dear Evon. You were loved by many people, and will remain in our hearts forever.
