Florence E. Halquist

Florence (Ekstrom) Halquist, age 79, of Belle Plaine passed away on December 5, 2014 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. at West Union Lutheran Church (15820 Market Avenue, Cologne, MN). Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Interment will be in the West Union Lutheran Cemetery in Cologne. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred. Florence was born on August 11, 1935 to Walter and Edna (Frank) Ekstrom in St. Paul, Minnesota. She grew up in Chaska and graduated from Chaska High School in 1953. She attended the University of Minnesota and obtained her Nursing Degree from the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing. She married William Halquist on October 26, 1956 at the Moravian Church in Chaska Minnesota. She and William farmed in San Francisco Township just North of Belle Plaine all of their married life. She lived on the family farm until moving to Kingsway 4 years ago. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband William Halquist, son Daniel Halquist, Sister Eunice (Lewis) Nichols, Brother-in-law Charles Barris, and Brother-in-law, John Carlson. She is survived by her children, Bridget (Lowell) Christiansen of Belle Plaine, Mary (Lee) Muehlenhardt of Belle Plaine, William F. (Wendy) Halquist of Belle Plaine, and Mark (Nicole Pecholt) Halquist of Belle Plaine; Daughter-in-law, Kristine Halquist of Belle Plaine; 9 Grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) Jenny, Teresa (Daniel) Kane, Whitney (Christopher) Gohman, Shari (Nate) Gerdes, Scott (Beth) Muehlenhardt, Ashley (Andy Jorgenson) Halquist, Michael Halquist, Lynn Abernathy, MacKenzie Hoff and Ryder Halquist 15 Great Grandchildren; Sisters, Bernice Barris of Chaska; Brothers, Warren (Diane) Ekstrom of Chaska, Twin Brother, Floyd (Patricia) Ekstrom of Bloomington, Francis (Jolene) Ekstrom of Peru, IN and Merrill (Shirley) Ekstrom of Chaska, Sister-in-law, Betty Halquist Carlson of Belle Plaine, and many nieces and nephews.
