Frances "Fran" L. Peterson

Frances "Fran" Peterson, age 95 of St. Peter passed away in her sleep on December 3, 2016. She was born in International Falls on April 13, 1921 to Warner and Hazel La Du. Fran was the oldest of three children. Her siblings, Audrey (Bill) Saunders and Warner "Bud" La Du preceded her in death. On January 30, 1942, Fran was united in marriage to William Peterson at Bethlehem Congregational Church in International Falls. The couple lived most of their married life in St. Louis Park, until William's death in 1991. Surrounded by a large extended family and many dear friends, Fran remained in St. Louis Park until 2004 when she moved to St. Peter to be nearer her daughter, Frani, and husband Mark Anderson. In addition to Frani and Mark, survivors include Dennis (Nancy Bevin) Peterson of Ames, Iowa; three grandchildren, Michael (Colleen) Peterson of St. Louis Park, Lindsey (Eric) Carlson of St. Peter, and Joey Anderson of St. Paul along with four great-grandchildren, Alex, Emma, Jonathan and Isabelle Peterson. Fran enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, golf and cooking. She also applied her skills to writing poetry and a 20 year professional career as a proofreader at the University of Minnesota. A private family service was held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. The family requests that anyone wishing to honor Fran with a memorial contribute to an organization of their choosing.
