Francis Bartz

Francis H. Bartz, age 71 of Le Sueur, died Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Le Sueur.  Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, at the Sunrise Church in St. Peter.  Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.  Burial will take place in Brown Cemetery, Henderson.  Rev. Mark Thompson will officiate the services.

Francis was born on January 26, 1950 to Francis & Margaret (Lietzau) Bartz in McLeod County, MN.  He grew up in the Hutchinson, MN area and graduated from Hutchinson High School.  He attended the University of Wisconsin - Stout for a short time before entering a long career in maintenance, manufacturing and designing.  He married Marcella Bird on June 10, 2000 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Henderson.  Later in life, he worked at Mayo Health Systems in Mankato where he enjoyed helping at the Chaplain services.  He also would spend his time helping Sunrise Church of St. Peter with worship services.

He is survived by his wife, Marcella of Le Sueur; children, Sarah Holmberg, Naomi Orlovsky, Simeon (Amy) Bartz, and Anna Bartz; 8 grandchildren;  siblings, Rick (Judy) Bartz of Cary, NC, Val (Sherm) Steffenson of Mayer, MN, and Blaine Bartz of Hutchinson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Margaret; and parents-in-law, Willard and Elverda Bird.
