Francis Joseph Hoffman, age 89 of Le Sueur, formerly of the Metro area and Henderson, died at the Comfort First Residence on Thursday, April 18, 2019.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 26, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Henderson, Minnesota. Visitation will be at church on Thursday, April 25, from 4:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m.  A luncheon will follow funeral Mass on Friday, burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.  Fr. Sam Perez will officiate the services.

Frank was born on September 4, 1929 to William and Evelyn (Doyle) Hoffman in Henderson.  He grew up in Henderson, and attended Henderson schools and high school.  He entered the United States Navy in 1947 and served for 20 years as an aviation mechanic.  He married Darlene Meyer at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Belle Plaine.  He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1967.  The couple lived in the Metro area where Frank worked for the City of Bloomington as a utilities and maintenance operator for 20 years.  Darlene died on December 18, 1993.  Frank married Betty Wieman in 1996 and lived in the Metro area until his recent battle with dementia.  Frank enjoyed his time with his family, hunting, fishing and working around the house.  When he was younger he boxed for the U.S. Navy and enjoyed his softball leagues.

He is survived by his wife Betty Wieman-Hoffman; sons, Mike (Lynne) Hoffman of New Prague, MN, Jim (Barbara) Hoffman of Le Sueur and Rick (Deedra) Hoffman of Henderson;  grandchildren, Andrew Hoffman (Courtney Mills), William Hoffman, Daniel (Candace) Hoffman, Rachel (Justin) Skistad, Amanda (Kevin) Holvig, Cassie (Joe) Poser, Cal Hoffman, Frank Hoffman and Beth (Corey) Smithman; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Theresa Becker of Burnsville;  many step-children and step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Darlene; sisters, Rita Grunwald, Ruth Beseke and Mary Alice Boelter; and brother, Ed Hoffman.
