Francis J. Nass

Francis John Peter Nass, age 90 of Le Sueur, passed away on May 6, 2025. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Le Sueur. Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur, concluding with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday morning from 8:30–10:15 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to Mass. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Sueur. Luncheon to follow the burial at Zion United Church of Christ.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to St. Anne’s School.

Francis was born on June 23, 1934, in Mapleton Township to Peter and Mary (Hilhorst) Nass. He graduated from Mapleton High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1953, serving honorably until his discharge in 1956.

On July 16, 1956, he married Beverly Ann Nelson at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Mapleton. The couple farmed together there until moving to Le Sueur in 1963 where he continued his passion of working the land until retiring and moving into town in 2002.

A dedicated farmer and steward of the land, Francis continued working in agriculture even after retiring, helping work the fields every fall until age 85. During many winter months, he held various jobs around Le Sueur.  A devout Catholic, he was a familiar face at daily Mass whenever possible and could be found on his knees every evening praying his beloved rosary.

Francis had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, trap shooting with his Wednesday group, maple syruping and reloading ammunition for his 45/70 Sharps rifle. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Francis is survived by his wife, Beverly of Le Sueur, MN; children, Michael (Pamala) Nass of Eagan, MN; Mary Jo (Mike) O’Malley of Belle Plaine, MN, Peter (Kathy) Nass of Faribault, MN, Susan Caruso of Chicopee, MA, Kathy (Donny) Danielson of Maple Grove, MN, and Laurie (Craig) Kleschult of Otsego, MN, son-in-law Greg Prescher of Redwood Falls, MN; 16 grandchildren, Mitchell, Matthew, Mark, Melissa, Patrick, Elizabeth, Michelle, Thomas, KariAnne, Victoria, Olivia, Nicholas, Kelly, Cora, Abram, Lucas, 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Tony (Ellie) Nass of Mankato, MN; and many other friends and relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joanne Haefner, brother Kenneth and daughter, Barbara Prescher (2017).
