Francis "Red" Weldon, age 95 of Belle Plaine. Passed away on August 26, 2016 at Kingsway Retirement Living in Belle Plaine. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11a.m. on Tuesday, August 30th at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Fr. Brian Lynch will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8p.m. on Monday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to the Mass at church on Tuesday morning. Interment with Military Honors will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Francis Christopher Weldon was born in Blakeley Township, Scott County on March 7, 1921 to Christopher Thomas & Catherine Helen (Hessian) Weldon. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Force. On August 31, 1948 he married Cornelia Guth at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. He farmed the family farm in Blakeley Township for many years. He later worked for MnDOT Highway Department. He was an active member of the Belle Plaine Vet's Club and was 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus. Red enjoyed playing cards, fishing and baseball. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Cornelia in 1997, one brother, four sisters and special friend Norma Stuewe. He is survived by his children, Doug (Mary Beth) Weldon of Golden Valley, Colleen (Thomas) Morrison of Belle Plaine, Chris (Betty) Weldon of Belle Plaine, Kathy (Terry) Logelin of Prior Lake, 7 Grandchildren, Brian (Julie) Morrison, Tony (Jessica) Weldon, Katie (Peter) Houghtaling, Chris (Jennifer) Weldon Jr., Andy (Sheila) Weldon, Ryan Logelin & Grace Logelin, 8 Great Grandchildren, Many Nieces & Nephews.
