Gene Roiger

Gene Roiger, age 73 of Arlington died Wednesday, March 16th at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington. Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to service time Saturday, all at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Gene was born in Springfield on December 26, 1937 to Alfred and Hilda (Sieber) Roiger. After graduation he worked at the Morgan Body Shop and on August 8, 1964 he married Betty Peck in Springfield. Gene continued to work in Morgan for another three years after marriage. In 1967 he and Betty moved to Arlington and Gene began an almost 40 year employment with Brau Motors as an auto body repairman. Gene retired in 2006. Gene loved to tinker with and restore old automobiles. He also loved fishing and being at the lake. His greatest love however was being with his family. Gene is survived by his wife; Betty of Arlington, daughter; Rachel (Jerald) Hartl of Glencoe, son; Joseph (Mandi) Roiger of Hutchinson, 3 grandchildren; Chance, Jersey, and Cash, sisters; Adeline Kuehl of Minneapolis, and Mary Rudenick of Wabasso, many nieces and nephews. Gene is preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law; Edward and Margaret Peck, and brothers-in-law; Kenneth Kuehl and Russell Rudenick. Casket bearers for the funeral are: Jerald Hartl, Chance Roiger, Dean Rudenick, Wayne Rudenick, Glenn Kuehl, and Mike Noack.
