Genevieve Schommer

Genevieve Schommer, age 102 of Belle Plaine and formerly of St. Paul, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Oak Terrace in Jordan. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Fr. Brian Lynch will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Genevieve was born in Belle Plaine Township on January 9, 1915 to John and Elizabeth (Barten) Schommer. She lived in St. Paul most of her adult life where she worked in a department store and also provided child care services for the Spicer family. She moved back to Belle Plaine where she has resided for many years. Genevieve lived independently all of her years until moving to Oak Terrace in Jordan in 2016. She loved traveling and played a large role in the lives of her nieces and nephews. She was loved greatly by her brother and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Mildred, Adeline and Barbara Marie. She is survived by her brother, Joe Schommer of Belle Plaine, And Many Nieces & Nephews.
