George was born on March 8, 1943 to George and Vivian (Doyle) Doheny in Belle Plaine, MN. Growing up in Belle Plaine, his family farmed in Jessenland where he spent much of his youth. He graduated Belle Plaine High School, Class of 1961 and proudly attended his last class reunion in the fall of 2025. On June 29, 1968, George married Cheyann Brown at Incarnation Catholic Church in Minneapolis. They were blessed with two daughters, Shannon and Geraldine, and a son, George “Buck” Doheny.

In addition to keeping up the family farm, George owned and operated Cabinet Wholesalers for many years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and served his country with honor (action in Bay of Pigs aftermath). He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and was proud of his Irish heritage. He attended most of the Belle Plaine St. Patrick’s Day parades, his final just this last March. He enjoyed working hard, telling stories and laughing just as hard. An Irish patriarch, he was proud of his family and wanted the best for them.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Geraldine, siblings Joan Keating, Gerald Doheny and Patsy O’Neil.

George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cheyann, daughter, Shannon (Mike) Tupper, and son Buck Doheny; his beloved grandsons, Jake Hanson, Frank Tupper and Spencer Tupper; and cherished nieces Krissy, Colleen, Tammy, Tracy, Michelle, Kerri and Kelli, and nephew Shawn. He will be greatly missed.
