George Stone, age 68 of Belle Plaine, passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2022. No formal services are scheduled at this time. George Samuel Stone III was born in Saint Paul, MN on August 7, 1954 to George and Marion (Menier) Stone. He grew up in Saint Paul, graduated from Harding High School, and enlisted in the US Army, where he was stationed in Germany as a statistician. During his service, he earned the title of Expert M16 specialist. After serving 2 years, George decided to pursue a career in graphic arts. He attended Minneapolis Community and Technical College, completing courses in video/audio production, and graphic design. He then worked as a full-time graphic production artist and designer at various Minneapolis Advertising Agencies until 2001, going on to freelance in the industry until his retirement a few years ago. He loved reading mystery, crime and detective, character driven novels, and held an interest in writing all throughout his professional career. George had a quick wit, keen instincts, a unique sense of humor, and a natural ability for writing poetry, short stories and creating interesting characters. Along with composing many short stories and poems over the years, he wrote and published a novel titled “From The Ashes” in 1997. George married Julie Coghlan in 1978 and they had one daughter, Jillian Stone. On August 7, 1993 he married Theresa Albrecht in Montego Bay Jamaica. They lived and worked in the Minneapolis area until 2003, then moved to Chula Vista, CA for 7 years. In 2010, they returned to their home state and settled in Belle Plaine to be closer to their families. He loved a tropical ocean beach, listening to all genres of music, watching romance, drama, comedy, mystery, crime and fantasy movies, playing guitar, and designing graphics. In the last year of his life, with his innate talent for insight and producing beautiful designs, he created over 120 inspirational sayings with graphics for clothing. George was a loving husband, father and grandfather, a quiet, creative, and beautiful soul who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Marion, stepfather John, sister Roxanne, childhood friend Duane, father in law, Leo “Sonny” Albrecht, and his cherished pups, Puff, Jasper and Poco.
