Gerald R. Distel, age 85 of LeSueur died on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at his home with his family at his side. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in LeSueur. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery , LeSueur , Minnesota . He was born on August 6, 1927 in LeSueur , Minnesota to Norris "Doppy" and Della (Dressel) Distel. Gerald graduated from LeSueur High School and entered the U. S. Army where he played baseball and football on Army teams. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Mankato Teachers College . Gerald married Ann Louise Schwartz on September 17, 1948 in Fairmont, Minnesota. He was a man of many trades throughout LeSueur including Distel Oil (Phillips 66 Station) and farming. He took great pride in raising and running Thoroughbred race horses. His passion for the sport of golf brought him to work at the Le Sueur Country Club as club house manager and in later years at the Wayzata Country Club and the Le Sueur Country Club as part of the grounds and maintenance crew. Over the years, he was a LeSueur Giants football booster and member of the LeSueur Country Club, Caballeros del Notre horse club as well as a retired LeSueur fireman. He is survived by his wife, Ann Louise Sons, Dan (Jan) Distel of Chaska and Robert (Julie) Distel of Maple Grove Daughters, Lani (Dan) Driscoll and Mary (Brad) Sasse of LeSueur 16 Grandchildren and 8 Great-grandchildren Brother, Donald (Corinne) Distel of LeSueur
