Gerald V. Schultz

Gerald V. Schultz, age 77 of Gaylord, died on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington, MN. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Arlington Public Cemetery in Arlington, MN. Rev. Kurt Lehmkuhl will officiate the services. Gerald was born on July 19, 1935 in Belle Plaine, MN to Victor & Rosa (Laabs) Schultz. He was baptized as an infant and later confirmed by Rev. P.J. Haupt at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. He attended Belle Plaine Public Schools while growing up. He enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard at a young age and worked for Battcher Electric in Arlington, MN. He met Marcella "Marcie" Mae Olfert at the Gaylord roller rink on May 29, 1955 and were engaged the following Christmas. They were married on Sept. 22, 1956 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, MN by Pastor O.F. Herder. Their marriage was blessed with three children; Craig, Cathy & Douglas. Gerald later attended Dunwoody Institute and received his Masters Electrician's License. He started Schultz Electric in Arlington and operated it for 21 years before selling his business to Nuessmeier Electric, Inc. on Dec. 31, 1986. Gerald served on the Arlington City Council, St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church Council, Arlington ambulance services. He was especially proud of his Arlington Fire Dept. service from 1969-1996. The past 15 years he and Marcie wintered in Yuma, AZ. They attended Christ Lutheran Church together with their dear friends Glenn & Ramona Meyer of Arlington whom they traveled with to Arizona. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and being with family and friends. His fishing trips up north with friends were always special to him. Gerald loved the Lord and all his family and he will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his wife Marcella. Grandchildren;Tanya (Chris Bick) Schultz, Jeremy (Tara) Schultz, Michael (Tisha Hamblin) Stien, Kent Stien & his Fiance', Dana Messner, Danielle (Cory) Johnson, Dana & Anthony Schultz. Great-Grandchildren; Haley Burgart; Gunnar Bick; Justice, Jasmine & Triton Schultz; Michael & Maddilyn Stien; sister, Pearl Bruesehoff of Young America; brother, Lyle (Carol) Schultz of Jordan, MN; sisters-in-law; Charlotte Schultz of Lakeville, MN, Julie Schulz of Welcome, MN, Violet (Harold) Hamblin of St. James, MN & Carolyn (Bruce) Boettcher of Belle Plaine, MN; Brothers-in-Law, Delano Olfert of Henderson, MN, Larry (Phyllis) Olfert of Mankato, MN.
