Gladys Dorothy Alvina Janosek

Gladys Dorothy Alvina Janosek of Gaylord, MN, age 97, died on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Marie Steiner Kelting Center in Chaska, MN. Memorial Services will be on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home Chapel. Visitation will be from noon to 12:30 at the Chapel. Reception to follow. Rev. Ed Fredrich will officiate. Gladys was born on January 27, 1916 in New Sweden Township, Sibley County, MN to the late Gustav & Ida (Abraham) Holmquist. She attended rural Gaylord schools and a two-year secretarial college following high school. She married John M. Janosek on January 18, 1936 in New Sweden, MN. They were married almost 65 years and had three children. The family lived in Minneapolis, MN, Omaha, NE, and Davenport, IA. Gladys worked as a secretary at the same company as her husband - the Winkley Company, later known as American Prosthetics - for many years. She and John were founding members of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Davenport, IA. She is preceded in death by parents, brother, Melville Holmquist, husband, son John, and daughter Barbara Manning. She is survived by her son, Donald Janosek of Cedar Rapids, IA; sisters, Mildred Noren of Belle Plaine, and Esther Carruthers of Maple Grove; grandchildren Lori Janosek, Tanya Schuette, Nicole Burkhardt, Alexandra Janosek, Kirsten Janosek-Albright, Julie Schomburg, Brad Schomburg, Robert Manning; and great-grandchildren John, James, Annalisa, & Kristina Schuette, Sean Janosek, Eleora Fredrich, Asher Janosek-Albright, Katherine & Michael Wagner, Brandi & Andrew Osland and Claire Manning.
