Gloria Zum Berge

November 2, 1940 — April 28, 2025

Gloria Zum Berge, age 84, of Green Isle, MN, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Glencoe Hospital.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Todd Bentz will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery, with lunch served in the church basement.

Gloria was born November 2, 1940, in Gaylord, MN, to Elmer and Rosella (Bergs) Wolter and grew up in Arlington. She married Dale Zum Berge on June 20, 1959, and they spent many years farming near Green Isle, where she played a vital role in running the farm and managing registration paperwork for their ID Grade/Purebred Holstein cattle.

Gloria had a passion for baking and sharing her creations with others-especially her award-winning bread and caramel rolls. That same love led her to spend time cooking at Emma Krumbee’s Restaurant, where she continued to serve others with warmth and care. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and Beanie Babies and was known for her long hair, often adorned with her signature colorful hair picks. Gloria and Dale loved dancing to The Wendinger Band and sharing black cherry ice cream. In quieter moments, she found joy in drawing whimsical cartoon characters that brought smiles to her family.

She was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Green Isle and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg for the past 25 years.

Gloria is survived by her children, Brenda (Brian) Becker of Hayfield, MN; Steven (Katherine) Zum Berge of Princeton, MN; and Kristine (James) Flannery of Green Isle, MN; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Moore of St. Paul, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dale.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, MN, for their compassionate care. Memorials are preferred to NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to support mental health resources and advocacy.
