Gloria A. Schnitzler

Gloria Ruth Schnitzler, age 81, of St. Peter and formerly of LeSueur died on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. She was born on August 6, 1934 near Benson, Minnesota to Adolph and Ida (Mohr) Melchert. She graduated from Holloway High School. Gloria lived with her parents near Hancock, Minnesota and married Charles Schnitzler on September 20, 1952 at Appleton, Minnesota. She continued to live with her parents while he completed his service in the military. Following his discharge, they made their home in Fairmont, Minnesota. In addition to being a homemaker, she helped Charles at times in the road construction business. They moved to LeSueur in 1980 and for several years have lived in St. Peter, Minnesota. She enjoyed time spent in her garden and yard work. Survivors include her husband, Charles; Children, Cyndie (Jeff) Bass of Minnesota Lake, Jill (Scott) Youngerberg of Spring Hill, TN, Julie (Randy) Tews of Discovery Bay, CA, and Russell Schnitzler of St. Peter. 6 grandchildren, Alyssa (Alex) Minge, Adam Youngerberg, Brianne (David) Smith, Trevor Tews, Sara Engle and Nathan Engle, 4 great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held on Monday April 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in LeSueur. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements are with Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur.
