Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday July 8, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Zion Lutheran Church, Pastor James Carlson officiating. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Greg was born on March 24, 1974, in Arlington, to Richard and Roseann (Rickard) Nagel, and was welcomed home by his older sister Kristin. He was baptized by Pastor Salness at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington, and later confirmed by Pastor Carlson, also at Zion Lutheran. He attended Sibley East High School, graduating in 1993. The course of Greg's life changed when, at age four, and again at age ten, he was diagnosed with brain tumors. The aggressive treatments following the initial surgery resulted in life-long challenges and accelerated neurological deterioration in more recent years. Greg greatly enjoyed Arlington A's baseball during his youth, and later became an avid fan of Twins baseball, especially center fielder Kirby Puckett. Greg also participated in the Special Olympics. Greg moved to Willmar after his graduation, and was employed for 17 years at West Central Industries. In June of 2010, Greg moved to Atwater, MN, living at Atwater House, an adult care facility. Greg continued to work in Willmar until May 2011, and, for a very short time, worked at Kandi-Works, a Day Activity Center in Atwater. Greg is survived by his parents Richard and Roseann Nagel, and a sister Kristin (Bill) Rosenfeld, all of Arlington, nieces and nephews Miana and Emily, Chase and Jack, his grandparents Orville and Maxine Rickard of Parkers Prairie, and many uncles, aunts and cousins. Urn bearers will be Chase Ellwood, Miana Nagel, Emily Rosenfeld, Jack Rosenfeld, David Slinden, and Kirsten Schlomann He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Frieda Nagel. The family prefers memorials be sent to Sibley County Relay for Life, or to donors choice.
