Gretchen Jensen

Gretchen Jensen, age 91 of Belle Plaine, and formerly of Shakopee, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Memorial Service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 11 A.M.  Rev. Brent Parrish will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday morning. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Gretchen was born in Waseca, MN on July 21, 1928 to Paul and Selma (Lueck) Oestreich. She was baptized on August 19, 1928 and confirmed on March 29, 1942 at St. Paul Lutheran church in Waseca. She married Stanley Jensen on July 21, 1951 at St. Paul Lutheran in Waseca.

Gretchen worked at E.F. Johnson before marriage. After raising her four children, she worked at Mt. Calvary Lutheran church in Richfield, MN as the secretary. She later worked as the secretary at Fish Lake Immanuel Lutheran church.

Mom taught Sunday school, VBS, and did volunteer work at her children’s’ school and with LWML. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and babysitting her grandchildren. She also enjoyed family gatherings, especially during the years lived by the lake.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Selma Oestreich, husband Stanley Jensen, sister Barbra Hofer, sister Norma Iverson, brother Howard Oestreich, grandson Ian Talty, and granddaughter Sara Fricke. She is survived by her children:

Grandchildren: Stephanie (Chris) Pelach Jaclyn (Joe) Gooden Alanna (Michael) Nella Mark Jensen Great Grandchildren: Julia & Daniel Pelach
