Harlan E. Schultz, age 77, of Carver, died, Friday, June 29, at his home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 3, 11:00 a.m, St. John Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine, MN. Visitation 4-8 p.m, Monday, Kolden Funeral Home, Belle Plaine, there will be a 7:00 p.m. American Legion & V.F.W. Service at the funeral home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at St. John Lutheran Church of Funeral. Burial with Military Honors will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine, MN. Rev. Mark Johnson will be officiating the services. Harlan was born on the family farm in San Francisco Township, Carver County, MN to Edward & Mildred (Braun) Schulzt. He attended Dist. #24 Country Schools until 8th grade and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1952. He then entered the United States Navy and served for several years. He married Esther Eliason on Sept. 17, 1955 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, MN. The couple lived in Minneapolis for a few years after they were married before building their family home on the farm in Carver County in 1961. Harlan worked for over 35 years as a Mechanical Engineer for what is now Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis retiring in 1996. Harlan was a long time member of the American Legion and enjoyed softball, bowling, flying, golfing, snowmobiling & hunting (duck & deer). He is survived by wife, Esther; Children Darrel Schultz, Crystal, MN & Carol Schultz, Belle Plaine, MN; Grandson; Nicholas, Great-Grandson Anthony. Siblings; Harold "Hal" (Sandy) Schultz of Mission, TX LaVonne (Larry) Behnke of Carver, MN Sisters & Brothers-in-Law;Milen Eliason, Cambridge, MN Myrtle (Dick) Traynor of Isle, MN Ila Eliason of Mpls, MN He is preceded in death by his parents; Brother, & Sister-in-Law, Norman (Hope) Schultz Sister & Brother-in-Law, Arlene (Lloyd) Lindemeier; Sister-in-Law, Violet Eliason; Brother-in-Law, Clary Eliason Jr & Sister & Brother-in-Law, Harriet (Rick) DuPont.
