Harold Victor Grimme

Harold V. Grimme, age 86 of Belle Plaine and formerly of Cadiz, Kentucky, died on January 22, 2011 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM on Monday, January 31, 2011 at Kingsway Living Center (3rd floor gathering room) in Belle Plaine. Interment will be at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Elkader, Iowa. Harold was born on August 15, 1924 in Welcome, MN to Herman and Esther (Kuttler) Grimme. After he graduated from Farmington High School, he enlisted in the U.S Army. Harold married Cecilia "Kay" Downey on June 1, 1948 in Elkader, Iowa. He worked as a heavy machine operator for Alexander Construction Company until his retirement in 1987. He and Kay retired in Cadiz, Kentucky and later returned to Minnesota in 2007. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ralph, William and Fredrick, and by sister Helen. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cecilia "Kay" Grimme of Belle Plaine; daughters, Anne Jorgenson of Andover, Jean Jeanotte of St. Louis, MO, and Diane (Bruce) Clausen of Belle Plaine; son, David Grimme of Bloomington; grandchildren, Eric (Jennifer) Jorgenson, Scott Jorgenson, Allen Clausen, Johanna Clausen and Catherine (James) Marshall; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette (Merald) Enstad and Alyce Ellwanger; nieces and nephews.
