Harold Kruschke

Harold E. Kruschke, age 88 of Belle Plaine, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Milaca Heritage House in Milaca, Minnesota. Funeral service will be at 11a.m. on Friday, June 17 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Harold was born on September 9, 1927 in Derrynane Township, LeSueur County to Gustav and Sarah (Oldenberg) Kruschke. He attended country school and worked doing appliance repair in LeSueur and then operated Harold's Appliance Service in Belle Plaine. He married Erna Schlingmann on September 23, 1961 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. They both drove bus for Scott County Transportation Department and he was very proud of the fact that he took his wife to lunch every day. They lived on Main Street in Belle Plaine where many people enjoyed seeing their home decorated so beautifully for Christmas every year. They were both active in the church, teaching Sunday School and guiding the Luther League. They were also founding members of the Belle Plaine Historical Society and Harold was the President for many years. Harold was a passionate bowler who along with his wife, helped establish the Jr. Bowling program in Belle Plaine. He enjoyed town baseball, softball and football and was an avid Gopher football fan. He is survived by his son, Hal (Pam) Kruschke of Princeton and step-grandchildren, Amanda and Dana and step-greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Donald (Marian), Loren (Evie), Willard (Doris) Kruschke and Luella (Ollie) Heitkamp as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Erna in 2007, parents, son, Robert and siblings, Henry and Gordon Kruschke, Helen Hardel and Myrtle Kruschke.
