Harvey D.C. Beneke

Harvey D. C. Beneke, age 73 of Arlington, passed away at the Sibley Medical Center on Friday, April 6, 2012. Funeral services will be at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11. Rev. Bruce Hannemann will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday April 10. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning at the church. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Green Isle. Harvey was born the son of Carl and Ida (Koester) Beneke in Green Isle Township on February 3, 1939. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Helen Township. He graduated from Arlington-Green Isle High School in 1957. On August 31, 1963, Harvey was united in marriage to Kathleen Franke at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN. Their marriage was blessed with three sons; David, Gary and Scott. The couple shared over 30 years of marriage until Kathleen passed away on June 19, 1994. Harvey was united in marriage to Donnis Schauer on October 14, 2006 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington. Harvey was employed at Farmhand Manufacturing in Green Isle, Sterner Lighting in Winsted, and also worked as a truck driver and a farm-hand over the years. Most recently, Harvey drove school bus in Glencoe. Harvey was also active in several community activities including Arlington Town & Country Days and the Arlington Polka Festival. Harvey loved to travel, listen and dance to old time music, play cards and spend time with friends and family, especially his granddaughters. Harvey is survived by: His wife; Donnis Beneke of Arlington, Sons;David Beneke and his wife, Connie of Victoria, Gary Beneke and his wife, Kathleen of Glencoe, Scott Beneke and his wife, Joann of Green Isle, Grandchildren;Kimberly, Lillian and Adyson Beneke 7 Step-Children; Kathleen Dirksen of Owatonna, Lynne Cohoon and her husband, Ed of Cannon Falls, Richard Klaustermeier and his wife, Rena of Bemidji, Deborah Jorgenson and her husband, Glen of Hutchinson, Bruce Klaustermeier of Germany Connie Hoof and her husband, Kevin of Norwood-Young America, Wanda Becker and her husband ,Paul of Glencoe, 8 Step-Grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends. Harvey was preceded in death by his Parents, Carl and Ida; Infant Sister, Helen; Brother, Hillard; and his wife Kathleen.
