Harvey H. Sutherland, age 99 of LeSueur died on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Minnesota Valley Health Care facility. He was born on December 10, 1916 at Elma, Wisconsin to Joseph and Mabel (Cowden) Sutherland. He grew up at Buffalo City, Wisconsin. Harvey married May Ratledge in Durand, Wisconsin on September 14, 1936. He worked for a time for Dairyland Coop and then began a long career with NSP (Northern States Power) in Wabasha and moved to LeSueur in 1955. He enjoyed buying, selling and riding horses and was a long-time member of the LeSueur County Sheriff's Posse. Harvey is survived by his children, Raymond of Belle Plaine, Dorothy Smith and Pat (Gene) Grieves of LeSueur and James of Vancouver, WA. 15 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren. Sister, Dorothy Martin of River Falls, WI. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, May on May 25, 2011 and 10 siblings, son-in-law, Jim Smith and daughter-in-law, Bev Sutherland. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ with Rev. Jean Sidner, officiating. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery in LeSueur. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. The family would like thank the Minnesota Valley Hospital, Nursing Home and Sunrise Plaza staff for their many years of service to the family and to the staff of the Green Mill and The Bar for their years of friendship and the many friends who provided transportation to Harvey.
