Helen A. Gores

Helen A. Gores, age 96 of Arlington passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until mass time Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Helen was born on February 10, 1917 in Westline Township, Redwood County to Joseph and Josephine (Wilt) Soupir. She was a graduate of Milroy High School. On June 4, 1936 Helen married Christian H. Gores at Our Lady of Victory Church in Lucan, Mn. She and her husband owned and operated Chris' Café in Wabasso for 36 years. After moving to Arlington Helen worked at Turner's Café/Arlington Haus and after retiring she volunteered at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center. She loved to cook and also liked embroidering, crocheting, gardening, playing cards, fishing and watching Twins baseball. Helen is preceded in death by her husband; sons: Jerry, Don, Fred, and Bob Gores; great grandson John; and fourteen siblings. She is survived by daughters: Shirley (Ken) Heiling of Redwood Falls, Josie (Don) Pelzel of Highland, MI., and Sue (Rick) Walker of Arlington; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter.
