Helen R. Sinell

Helen R. Sinell, age 95, of Le Sueur and formerly of Henderson, Minnesota died on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Minnesota Valley Health Care Center in Le Sueur. She was born on September 14, 1919 in Sibley County to Henry and Emma (Kriefall) Budke. She grew up in the Le Sueur area, attending Rush River School and graduating from Le Sueur High School in 1936. In 1938 she graduated from Mankato Teachers College. She loved teaching and taught at Rush River, Jessenland and Henderson district schools. Helen also was a secretary at the creamery in Rush River. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ serving in church starting at the age of 13. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Le Sueur and was a church organist, lay pastor and adult Sunday School teacher. She played for many weddings and funerals throughout the Le Sueur and Henderson area during her lifetime. Helen married Fred Steckmann on August 24, 1943 and he died in 1959. She married Ernest Sinell in June of 1966 and he preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Rita Lehmann of Mission Viejo, CA; granddaughter, Alison (Christopher) Lehmann-Edwards as well as 2 great-grandchildren (Eleanor and Samuel) Edwards; step-daughter, Linda Sinell of Arlington and step-grandchildren, Anne Sinell-Hansen, Steve Sinell and Mike Sinell. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Paul Klueter; son, Darryl Steckmann; step-son, Lowell Sinell; brothers, Ezra and Harold Budke and 2 sister-in-laws, Shirley and Lucille Budke. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Le Sueur. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur.
