Henrietta Stiles

Henrietta Stiles, age 101 of Belle Plaine, passed away on May 8, 2018 at Kingsway Retirement Living in Belle Plaine. Funeral Service will be at 11a.m. on Tuesday, May 15th, at the First Presbyterian Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. Diane Goulson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8p.m. on Monday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Burial will be at a later date in the Episcopal Transfiguration Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Henrietta was born in Minneapolis on July 26, 1916 to Oliver and Mildred (Delvin) Hillstrom. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1934 as Salutatorian. She married August Schmidt and had three children, James Edward Vivian Ann & Phyllis Mildred. August later passed away. She cared for her bedridden grandmother for eight years. She later worked as a lab technician at Minn Valley Milk Plant and Coast to Coast Hardware for many years. On December 29, 1962 she married Jacy Stiles. She volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and tutored adults learning to read. Henrietta was also a charter member of the Belle Plaine Historical Society and gave tours of the historical house where she grew up and raised her children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands August Schmidt and Jacy Stiles, sister Vera Hormann, sons in law Donald Geis Sr. and John Renne, grandson James Geis and great granddaughter Dion Bohr. Henrietta is survived by her children, Jim (Carol) Schmidt of Jordan, MN, Vivian Geis of Shakopee, MN, Phyllis Renne of Belle Plaine, Step children, Mary Pat Munson of Belle Plaine, Leona (George) Wase of Dayton, OR, Alice (John) Weckman of Shakopee, MN, Priscilla (John) Sage of Indianapolis, IN, Michael Stiles of Wausau, WI, Many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.
