Hilda Stier

Hilda Stier age 93 of Belle Plaine, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 11, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery Hilda was born in Dusseldorf, Germany on March 31, 1919 to Gustave and Elfriede (Leimkuhler) Koniarski. She was baptized at Dort Kirke in Duisburg, Germany. In September 1924, she and her brother, Bill and her parents came to the U.S. through Ellis Island. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine in 1932. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1937. In September, 1937 she was married to Julius Stier at St. John Lutheran Church by Rev. P.J. Haupt. Together they raised 5 children. Hilda was a homemaker all her life and also active in her church and community. She loved gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and crocheting. Hilda and Julius enjoyed traveling and together visited all 50 states and 21 foreign countries. In their retirement years, Hilda and Julius spent their winters in McAllen, TX where they enjoyed the recreational activities especially dancing. Julius passed away in 1998, and Hilda continued to spend her winters and later lived full time in Texas until 2008 when she moved to Kingsway in Belle Plaine. Hilda is survived by her children, Paul Stier (Gloria) of Apple Valley, Irene Bohnstadt of Michigan City, IN, Elayne (Joseph) Nelson of McAllen, TX, Helen Frost of White Bear Lake, daughter-in-law, Mars Cavers Stier of Ocean View, HI, brother, Bill Koniarski of Belle Plaine, 7 grandchildren, Robert Nelson (Jane), Joelle Nelson Hammer (Gary), Daniel Frost (Shari), Jeffrey Stier (Jane), Jeremy Stier (Anna), Rebecca Frost, Julie Stier Burgess (Brian) and 11 great- grand children. She is preceded in death by husband, Julius (1998), father, Gus Koniarski (1931), mother Elfriede Haupte (1990), step-father, Robert Yahnke, step-father, P.J. Haupt, son, Wayne Stier (2010), son-in-law, James Bohnstadt (2000), sister-in-law, Leona Koniarski (2007). Pallbearers: Robert Nelson, Joelle Nelson Hammer, Jeffrey Stier, Jeremy Stier, Daniel Frost, Rebecca Frost, Julie Stier Burgess. Memorials preferred to ELCA Missions, Lutheran World Relief or MN Heart Assocoation.
