Howard "Corky" Ehlers

Howard "Corky" Ehlers, age 89 of Henderson died on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur. Memorial services will be on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's U.C.C. in Henderson. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the church on Monday morning. Interment will be at Brown Cemetery in Henderson, MN with Pastor Brigit Stevens officiating. Corky was born on June 14, 1922 to William & Clara Ehlers in Henderson, MN. He graduated from Henderson High School. He married Dorothy Jents on Sept. 13, 1947. Together they had five children, they later divorced. He worked his entire life as a carpenter. Corky's love for music began at a young age. He played a variety of instruments in the town band. Corky served the community in many ways. He was a relief policeman, a member of the Henderson Fire Department for 22 years, 15 years as chief, and also served as a church council member at St. Paul's UCC. Corky never lost his passion for music; you could often find his toe-a-tapping to the tune of his old time favorites.
