On Tuesday, January 28, 2014, Irene Emma Ella Hemme, age 92 of Arlington, entered her Savior's arms while in the Glencoe Regional hospital. A memorial service will be held 11:00a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington with Rev. Kurt Lehmkuhl officiating. Interment will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Irene was born on November 28, 1921 on the family farm in Luverne Township of Rock County to August and Lela (Holmes) Hamann. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1939. On August 8, 1943 she married Glenn H. Hemme at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Irene and Glenn farmed and raised their family in Rock County. There, Irene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick where she was active in the LWML and Home Extension Club. In June, 1990 Irene and Glenn moved to Arlington to be near their grandchildren and became members of Peace Lutheran Church. Irene enjoyed reading her Bible, gardening, painting, old time music and dancing. Her family still enjoys the many quilts and crocheted afghans she made for them and her grandchildren especially remember Grandma making the BEST baked goodies! Irene is lovingly remembered by her 4 children and their spouses: Glenn (Glatha) Hemme of Camarillo, CA., Gary (Susan) Hemme of Plainview, TX., Gordon (Carole) Hemme of St. Bonifacius and Lynnette (Ralph) Wacker of Arlington; 7 grandchildren: Eric Hemme (sp. friend Libby Haskell), Kelly (Mike) Schultz, Mindy (Josh) Ferguson, Troy (Wendy) Hemme, Chad Hemme, Brielle (Daniel Dragland) Wacker, Christopher Wacker (fiancée, Abby Webster); 5 great grandchildren: Margaret and Maximus Schultz, Abigail and William Ferguson, and Silas Hemme; 2 siblings: Alice Schmuck and Dale Hamann and 2 in-laws: Arlyn (Gladys) Hemme. She will also be missed by 5 step-grandchildren: Michelle, Jason, Jackie, Jana and Jessie and 7 step- great grandchildren: Claire, Zane, Derek, Kaia, Zuri, Nevaya and Deyla. Irene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn; her parents; 4 siblings: Elmer Hamann, Elsie Hemme, Frances Sievert and Virgil Hamann and 1 step-great grandson: Devin.
