Irene M. Spellman, age 95 of LeSueur and formerly of Henderson, Minnesota died on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Minnesota Health Care in LeSueur. She was born on September 5, 1921 in LeSueur, Minnesota to Richard and Emma (Tressmer) Griep. She married Frank Spellman on February 9, 1944 in St. Paul, Minnesota and they lived most of their married lives in the Henderson and LeSueur area. She was a homemaker and also operated Irene's Café in Henderson from 1960 to 1965. She enjoyed Bingo, baking and her grand, great-grand and great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Dennis (Linda) Spellman of Birchwood, WI, Sandy Lemke of Arlington, Lois (LeRoy) Meyer of LeSueuer and Karen Fuller of Mankato; daughter-in-law, Gail Spellman of Shakopee and son-in-law, Don Swenson of Gaylord as well as 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-greatgrandchildren. Siblings, Earl Griep of Belle Plaine, Malen (Margie) Griep of Ft. Meyers, FL, Annette Hensler of Mankato, Ray (Margaret) Griep of LeSueur and Bea (Mickey) Bosak of Savage. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, son, Tom and daughter, Punky Swenson as well as son-in-law, Richard Lemke and grandson, Patrick Spellman and siblings, Edna King, Erv Griep and Marlene Borgardts. Private family interment will be in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at Hillside Court (220 Risedorph Street, LeSueur) on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.
