Ivan L. Lehnert

Ivan L. Lehnert, age 89, passed away on February 24, 2026 at Cura of Le Sueur. Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 16, 2026, 11:00 A.M., at the United Methodist Church, Le Sueur, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.

Ivan was born on April 29, 1936 in Blakeley Township, Minnesota to Milton and Doris (Wood) Lehnert. He grew up in the area and graduated from LeSueur High School in 1954. Following graduation, Ivan enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served active duty from 1957 – 1960.

Ivan married Doreen Morioka on October 9, 1965 at the United Methodist Church in Le Sueur, MN. Together they settled on the family farm where they would continue to live and raise their family, and Ivan would complete his many years of farming.

Ivan enjoyed tinkering in his shop, bowling in his younger years, spending time with his family, his weekly Monday lunch with friends at Pizza Ranch, and keeping his cat, Smoky, company. Ivan could build or repair practically anything. It might not have looked the greatest but it was functional. He was an active church member of the United Methodist Church, and enjoyed the simple things in life.

He is survived by his wife, Doreen of Belle Plaine; daughters, Ann (Ed) Hanegraaf of River Falls, WI; and Nancy (Varen) Herman of St. Michael, MN; 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Fred (Mary) Lehnert, Judy (Dave) Hall, Dale (Jeanann) Lehnert, and Bruce (Brenda) Lehnert.

Ivan is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Patty Symonds, Loretta Straub, and Barb Ramaker.
