Jack Herrick

Jack Herrick, age 93 of Burnsville, MN, and formerly of Le Sueur, MN, passed away peacefully at home on February 8, 2025. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1st, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Burnsville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pastor Dan Walters will officiate the service.

Jack Hadley Herrick was born in Denver, CO on April 18, 1931, to Melvin and Mary (Hadley) Herrick. As a young boy, Jack moved with his family to Niles, MI where the Herrick family owned and operated the Michigan Mushroom Company. Jack graduated from Niles High School in 1950 and Michigan State in 1954 earning a degree in accounting. On August 27, 1960, he married Joan Dell at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Niles. Upon the sale of the Michigan Mushroom Company to Green Giant, Jack and Joan moved to Le Sueur, MN where he worked as an accountant and later as the financial reporting manager for Green Giant/Pillsbury. He then worked as an agent for AAL (now Thrivent) for several years. Jack was very active in his church, Grace Lutheran, in Le Sueur where he was head usher, financial secretary, treasurer, and building committee chair for the fellowship hall. Jack was an avid fan of Michigan State sports, Cubs, and Twins baseball. He enjoyed golfing at the Le Sueur Country Club, played softball in his younger years, and stayed active with racquetball well into his later years.

He is remembered for his love and devotion to family, church, and sports.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Clara Wienke Harper, Neva Hargreaves, brother William, wife Joan in 2020, and grandson Caleb in 2024.

He is survived by his twin sister Jane Glascott of Niles, MI, Children, Jennifer (Ron) Hesse of Long Prairie, MN, David (Dennis) Herrick of Plymouth, MN, and Sarah Herrick of Belle Plaine, MN. Grandchildren, Christina Pesta, Alyssa Kelly, Nathan Herrick, Benjamin Pudwill, Samuel Pudwill, and four Great-grandchildren.
