James Pfarr, age 76 of Le Sueur, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Le Sueur Assisted Living. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10:30 a.m at St. Annes in LeSueur. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Le Sueur. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 with a 7:45 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur. The visitation will continue from 8am until 10:15 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. James was born on September 7, 1937 in Rush River to Frank and Ann (Nussbaumer) Pfarr. He attended Rush River country school and graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1955. Jim married Bonnie Tuma on February 4, 1961 at St. Annes Church in Le Sueur. He was proud to be a 4th generation farmer on their Kelso Township, Sibley County Century farm. He was also a rural mail carrier. Jim served on the Le Sueur School Board and also served as a township clerk. He was passionate about 4-H and particularly the swine project where he served as a leader for 30 years. One of the highlights of the year was the annual 4-H swine show at the Sibley County Fair. Jim loved sports and played softball into his sixties and also volunteered as an umpire. He was devoted to St. Annes Church and school and was active in S.A.M.S., Patrons of St. Annes and Knights of Columbus. After his retirement Jim challenged himself to remain active while living with Parkinsons disease. He continued to help on the farm where able and enjoyed gardening, walking, spending time in the woods, hunting and reading. He particularly enjoyed mentoring and spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. The family extends a heartfelt thank you for the loving care provided to our Dad by the staff of LeSueur Assisted Living and Mayo Health System Mankato Hospice. Jim is survived by his children, Debbie (Bob) Bauleke of Le Sueur, Dave (Robyn) Pfarr of Le Sueur, Dan (Julie Pinomaki) Pfarr of Minneapolis, Denise (Jerome) Schuft of Green Isle, MN, Duane (Mary Jo) Pfarr of Columbia Hts, MN, Dawn Pfarr of Quito, Canton DeeAnna D.J. (Greg) Novak of Le Sueur and Donna Pfarr of Robbinsdale, MN. Grandchildren, Michael Pfarr, Craig (Jamie) Bauleke, Amanda (Yvon) Carvalho, Rachael Bauleke, Matthew, Erin, Brett Christopher Pfarr, Leo, James Anton Pfarr, Erik Michaela Schuft, Hunter, Hazel Hailey Pfarr, Andrea Spry, Amaya Shavers-Spry, Dylan, Lily, Ivy Novak, Indigo Pfarr. Great Grandchildren, Stella Evan Bauleke, Isabel Vivian Carvalho. Siblings, Mary (Don) Felmlee of Red Wing, Rita (Pat) Hix of St. Peter, Monica (Ray) Bratsch of Tryon, NC, and LeRoy (Diane) Pfarr of Le Sueur Sister-in-law Ronahda (Jerry) Mootz He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie and sister-in-law Connie and her husband Darv Brandt.
