James “Jim” Stoltz, age 83, of Le Sueur, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Cura of Le Sueur. Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Le Sueur at 10:30 AM, with Military Honors following Mass. Visitation will take place on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a K.C. Rosary at 3:45 P.M. at Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur and will continue one hour prior to Mass on Tuesday. Interment will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Jim was born on May 28, 1943, to Frowin and Cynthia (Jarding) Stoltz in Alexandria, SD. He grew up there and graduated from Alexandria High School. On January 30, 1965, he married the love of his life, Madeline “Maddie” Jaeger, beginning a marriage that would span more than six decades and be filled with love, family, and countless memories.
In 1966, Jim was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he and Maddie made their home in Le Sueur, where they raised their three children: Julie, Tony, and Daniel.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who took great pride in his family. Some of his favorite memories were made while camping with his children, creating memories they would cherish for years to come. On September 30, 2006, Jim's life changed after a motorcycle accident left him paraplegic. True to his character, however, he refused to let the accident define him. He continued to enjoy spending time in his workshop, riding his three-wheel hand-control bicycle, putting together puzzles, reading, and staying active in the things he loved. Above all else, Jim treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
He will be remembered for his perseverance, his love of family, and the strength and determination with which he faced life's challenges. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Maddie; children, Julie (Robert) Raker, Tony (Jill) Stoltz, and Daniel (Florence) Stoltz; grandchildren, Allison (Brad) Hines, Olive Stoltz, Grace Stoltz, and Kevin Raker; great-grandchildren, Becker and Marceline; siblings, Terry (Cathy) Stoltz, Dave (Barb) Stoltz, and Pat (Frank) Tyx; sister-in-law, Jane Stoltz; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Roger and Don Stoltz.
