Janet Diane Schultz

Janet Diane Schultz was born on December 29, 1942 in Gaylord, MN to Paul and Viola (Franke) Podratz. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. She graduated from Gaylord High School and then went to Mankato Beauty School. Janet was united in marriage to William Schultz on July 8, 1967 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Henderson, MN. They lived in Henderson and were blessed with three children and two grandchildren. Janet and William spent many happy years together. Janet worked as a secretary at Green Giant for many years. She then worked various jobs before working at Mystic Lake. There, she met many lifelong friends and happily retired. Janet's happiest days were spent with her family and friends. She looked forward to her weekly ladies lunch bunch and weekend dinner outings with friends. She loved to travel and see new places. Often the day she arrived home, she would already be planning for her next trip. She loved her grandsons. She never missed a sporting event and looked forward to cheering them on. She was a proud grandmother and was honored to witness the men they've grown to be. She cherished each momment and every new day was a gift. Janet is surived by: Daughter, Lori (Mark) Zimmerman of Cleveland, MN; Grandson, SPC Jack (Megan) Zimmerman stationed at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX; Grandson, SPC Andrew Zimmerman stationed at Camp Beuhring, Kuwait; Daughter, Julie (Kelly) Wirth of Frazee, MN and children Kris (Adrian), Dustin (Jessie), Kelsey (Erik) and their children; Son, Tim Schultz of Henderson; Brother, Ron (Dody) Podratz of Shoreview, MN and children Michelle (Michael), Julie (Myron) and their children; Mother-in-law, Evelyn VanBuskirk of Henderson; Brothers-in-law, Sisters-in-law, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and other relatives and friends. Janet was preceded in death by many loved ones especially her husband, William Schultz and most recently her parents, Paul and Viola Podratz. Janet had proven her will to live and just how much she cherished life by fighting her battle with cancer for ten long years. Everyone that knew her would say she had a beautiful smile, was quick to laugh and had a heart of gold. Janet died peacefully with loved ones by her side on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at the age of 69. She was truly loved by all who knew her and left her family and friends with many happy memories. Her visitation will be on Sunday, March 25, 2012, 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Henderson and will continue on Monday morning at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Her funeral will be on Monday, March 26, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Henderson. Interment will be in Brown Cemetery in Henderson, MN. Rev. Brigit Stevens will officiate the services.
